Families hit by the housing downturn now have a new place to call home. A new low income housing project opens tomorrow in Salinas, other wise known as the Salad Bowl of the World for its big lettuce crop in the heart of Steinbeck country.
The Salinas Californian reports 53 multi-family units will replace 38 rundown units. Eventually there will be a total of 160 units in the complex. It’s hope the project will also be a stimulus for Chinatown redevelopment as a whole.
