The United States has long been thought of as a land of opportunity. But for immigrants with big ideas and bold dreams, launching their entrepreneurial ideas can be difficult. The Inquirer reports that the US Senate this month defeated a measure that would have given foreign students with advance degrees in science, technology, engineering & math an opportunity to get immigrant visas or green cards.
Under the current system, the number of H1B visas has been limited to 65,000 a year and most of those are claimed in a matter of months.
