NY Times: #Chinese American Coerced Into Making Confession On Trial in China Accused of Being Mob Boss

China FlagThe US State Department is trying to help a Chinese American immigrant on trial in China accused of being a mob boss, reports the  NY Times.

Vincent Wu goes on trial Monday facing long odds. China’s system of justice boasts a 98 percent conviction rate.

Much of the case hinges on a confession the defense says was coerced. Chinese authorities have so far rejected all attempts by the US embassy to assist Wu.
