A long time inventor at IBM has been named one of 10 winners of the National Medal of Science & Technology Awards by President Obama, reports the India Post.
Rangaswamy Srinivasan has been an inductee of the US Inventors Hall of Fame since 2002. He discovered the benefits of the excimer laser which is used in Lasik surgery today.
The National Medal of Technology and Innovation award honors those who have increased America’s competitiveness and improved the quality of the country’s high tech workforce.
He along with the other winners will be honored by the White House in a ceremony early next year.
