Phily.com: Pop Up Art in Chinatown Could Get Neighbors Talking to Each Other

balletPhiladelphia’s Chinatown is a unique blend of communities who all claim portions of Chinatown as their own. A new art project hopes to bring these people together, while bringing new art forms and culture into the neighborhood.

Some artists have proposed a roving tea cart of art performances that would travel around the neighborhood.

Artist Yowei Shaw who created Phily Youth Radio wants to play oral history projects in elevators to tell different stories of Chinatown.

Others hope to beautify an electric substation by adding art work to the fence.

Phily.com reports the Asian Art Initiatives hope the projects will promote dialogue in Philadelphia’s Chinatown.
