Association of American Editorial Cartoonists Showcases Cartoon of Homeless Filipino American Veterans

World War IIThe continuing struggle for Filipino American veterans to gain full recognition for their service for the United States during World War II continues as more and more of these veterans die from old age. The Association of American Editorial Cartoonists ‘highlighted a cartoon by Angelo Lopez depicting a homeless Filipino American veteran burning government papers to stay warm. The veteran is wrapped in an American flag he is forced to use as a warm coat.
