Indian Express: President Obama Renominates Indian American for Federal Judgeship

court gavelIndian-American Srikanth Srinivasan was among the 33 people renominated by President Barack Obama to the US District Court of Appeals. Many of these nominees have been waiting for more than six months for their nominations to be ratified. According to the Indian Express,  Srinivasan grew up in Lawrence, KS and graduated from Stanford Law. He worked as an associate in the Solicitor General’s Office and represented the US in litigation before the US Supreme Court. He received the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in 2003. He was nominated in June to serve on the Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia. “Today, I am re-nominating thirty-three highly qualified candidates for the federal bench, including many who could have and should have been confirmed before the Senate adjourned,” Obama said. The Senate has a Democratic majority so its hard to understand why it has not moved on so many nominees. Politics is a funny game.
