The Southern Poverty Law Center reports that hate crimes against Muslim Americans more than ten years after 9/11 are at a high, according to an article in Arab American News The Law Center found that hate crimes against Muslims leaped 50 percent in 2010 and remained at the same high levels last year. In all there were 157 reported hate crimes in 2011,compared to 160 in 2010. The spike in 2010 coincides with an increase in Islam-bashing propaganda. Just last month, an Indian American Hindu man was killed after being pushed into an oncoming subway train after being mistaken for Muslim. That incident happened after Pamella Geller placed ads comparing Muslims to savages. Civil rights groups have spoken out about the negative affects on such ads.
