San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, the city’s Asian American mayor, has had a long honeymoon. The lifelong bureaucrat is largely credited with getting a deeply divided Board of Supervisors to work together like they’ve never before. He’s also talked such major companies like twitter as well as convincing San Francisco voters to pass important tax and bond measures. But a year into his first full four year term, his critics are saying the fresh paint is starting to chip. The SF Chronicle took an in depth look at Lee’s term. Mistakes included trying to impeach Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi and appointing Christina Olague to the Board. Instead of being an ally, Olague turned into an adversary of Lee’s. The mayor also backed the proposed expansion of California Pacific Medical Center which has become a lightning rod on the board. It remains to be seen whether the Mayor’s tough balancing act with the progressives and liberals on the San Francisco Board of Supervisor is headed for a fall.
