NW Asian Weekly: White Rice Is Bad For You (& Other Things About the Asian diet)

Dim SumHow many of us pledge to start off the New Year’s right with a new you? How many of us break that New Year Resolution?  NW Asian Weekly

has a list of ten things you can do to improve your health and your Asian diet. Even if you only end up doing one of these things consistently, its a step forward.  Here are some of the highlights.

Replace white rice with brown rice just twice a week. “Eating brown rice can lower the risk of being overweight and type 2 diabetes,” Yuchi Yang MS, RD, nutritionist said. “You don’t have to eat it every day to see the benefits.”

Eat more kimchi and miso. Both help with digestion and boost immunity.

Ease off on the soy sauce. Look for low sodium soy sauce to keep your sodium levels down.

Eat more Vietnamese and Japanese. These are your healthiest Asian options.
