News about a family torn apart by internal strife has added to the intrigue of an Indian American man killed by cyanide poisoning. India West reports that the family of homicide victim Urooj Khan fought for months over the businessman’s estate. The father in law was in deep debt, his daughter moved out of the step mom’s home and his wife was questioned by hours by Chicago police.

Authorities are still trying to determine how the cyanide got into Khan’s system. Just days before he was to receive his $425,000 lottery winnings, Khan died. His body will be exhumed in the coming weeks. Adding to the confusion, he died without a will opening up battle lines across the family.

His wife, Shabana Ansari has been made the administrator of the estate pending a ruling on how to divide the assets..
