An Indian American researcher and his colleagues at the University of Michigan are moving closer to developing clothing that would be resistant to stains & spills, reported Two Circles.net.
He’s developing something called ‘superomniphobic’ surfaces that would be resistant to everything from blood to ketchup to acids. That’s great news for slobs like me who make a habit of dripping pasta sauce, soy sauce and milk onto my just washed clothes. This could be the best invention since wrinkle-proof shirts.
An article in the Journal of the American Chemical Society reports that most liquids seem to bead up, roll off and bounce on the new surface. The researchers have been unsuccessful, however, so far in getting the same reaction from oil and alcohol.
