ESPN: Mantei Te’o Speaks Out About Hoax for First Time

Manti Te'o  Notre Dame lineback Mantei Te’o spokes out about the first time about being duped into thinking he had a girlfriend and she had died.  The Heisman Trophy finalist spoke to ESPN  in an exclusive interview.

Te’o denied being part of a hoax in an effort to gain publicity.

“I wasn’t faking it,” he said. “I wasn’t part of this.”

“When (people) hear the facts, they’ll know,” he said. “They’ll know that there is no way that I could be part of this.”

Meanwhile, two people have come forward to say the person who duped Te’o also duped their cousin four years ago. The two said what happened to their cousin also happened to Te’o.
