MSN: New Jersey Muslim Americans Challenge NYPD Spying

MuslimMuslim Americans individuals and organizations in New Jersey are challenging the police run surveillance of their community and say a bid by New York to have the lawsuit thrown out should be rejected, reports MSN.

In court filings Friday, the plaintiffs say the spying by the New York Police Department was unwarranted and based solely on their religion and without evidence of wrongdoing. They accused the NYPD of subjecting them to unfair discrimination and scaring worshippers from coming to the mosques.

This is the first lawsuit to challenge the much publicized NYPD program.
