CATEGORIES

Commitment, TheA film inspired by an Asian American director’s own experience of  seeking to adopt a child with his gay partner has been nominated for a 2013 National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Media Award, reports Sampan.

The commitment stars actor director Albert Chan and his partner played by Jason Lane Fenton, an interracial gay couple chosen by a pregnant Asian American woman to adopt her baby.

Chan himself decided along with his husband to adopt a child after 7 years of marriage in real life.

“We went through a lot of ups and downs during the adoption process, so a lot of the movie is based on what actually happened,” Chan says.

Commitment has won numerous film festival awards. You can learn more about Commitment and how you can help it win the NASW’s media award in this article in Sampan,
