Dr Vistasp M Karbhari has been named president of the University of Texas, Arlington reports the Times of India.
Karbhari (pictured here) is one of a growing list of Indian Americans running Universities in the United States. He is currently the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
“UT Arlington is an incredible institution, and I am committed to advancing it towards Tier One status, while maintaining and strengthening excellence in both research and education and ensuring the success of our students,” Kharbari said.

Meanwhile Dispreet Singh Virk is attempting to go where no Indian American has gone before him.
India West reports Dilpreet Singh Virk is eying the title of America’s Next Top Model. The Mr. India Globe and Mr. India North America has applied for a spot on the television modeling competition.
“We definitely need diversity in the industry,” he told India-West in an e-mail.
