National Journal: @RepMikeHonda Rolls Out Early Agressive Campaign

CATEGORIES

Mike HondaRep Mike Honda (D-Silicon Valley) is trying to squash his opposition before it gets out of the starting gate, according to the National Journal.

Ro Khanna, his probable Democratic opponent in the 2014 election, has already raised $1.2 million dollars. Honda would clearly benefit from his name recognition, but Khanna would benefit from redistricting which has greatly increased the percentage of Indian Americans in the district.

Honda (pictured here) has released a poll which shows him with 57 percent support in a hypothetical primary and Khanna only pulling in 5 percent of the vote. Evelyn Li who ran against Honda in 2012 manages 13 percent support.

President Barack Obama and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi have already thrown their support to Honda

But in California, none of this really matters. No on at this point is paying any attention and Californians are notoriously independent and don’t necessarily care about endorsements.

It makes for fascinating food for thought, nonetheless. You can feed your appetite in the National Journal.
