Merchants in Honolulu’s Chinatown fears the potholes along the sidewalks are so dangerous someone could fall and kill themselves, reports KITV

They say a elderly women recently tripped and injured herself due to a pothole. City officials say the sidewalks are torn up because crews need to repair gas lines. But merchants say metal plates should be put over the holes to minimize the danger.

“They told me you better do something because too many people are falling that’s when I came down, took pictures, and communicated with the north street contractor representative,” said community leader Chu Lan Shubert-Kwock.
