Washington Blade: White House DADT Protestor Dan Choi to Be Tried Tomorrow

Dan ChoiA former army Lieutenant who chained himself to the White House fence in 2010 in protest of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is scheduled to go back on trial tomorrow in Washington, D.C, reports the  Washington Blade.

Dan Choi is the only one of 13 LGBT activists to be arrested in the protest that day to go to trial. The others agreed to plead guilty in exchange for having the case dropped as long as they weren’t arrested within the next four months outside the White House. Choi refused asserting his constitutional right to protest.

The court has recently ruled that Choi’s attorneys will not be allowed to argue that he is being targeted for “selective” and “vindictive” prosecution.

Choi faces six months in the federal penitentiary. You can read more about the legal strategies on both sides in the Washington Blade.
