Examiner.com: Line Up Set for LA’s Asian Pacific Film Fest

Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film FestLinsanity will be coming to Los Angeles to kick off this year’s Asian Pacific Film Fest in Los Angeles May 2 – 12.

Evan Jackson Leong’s inspiring documentary about the improbable, but sensational story of Jeremy Lin opens the LAAPFF this year.  Examiner.com reports this year’s festival will feature over 140 films from 20 countries. Included among the films will be 33 feature films and 108 shorts.

Other highlights will include Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings by Tadashi Nakamura, who has won numerous documentary awards. Jake Shimabukuro is Nakamura’s first feature film. It’s the story of a Hawaiian based musician who’s transformed the ukulele into a modern jazz instrument while maintaining the instrument’s island roots.

The Festival will close with the comedy The Key of Life. Kenji Uchida’s film stars Masato Sakai, a depressed actor who is on the verge of suicide until he witnesses a man slip and lose consciousness right before him. He decides to switch identities with this man only to learn later the man has mob ties. The Key of Life is scheduled for wide US release in June.
