President Barack Obama in California to raise money for Democratic congressional candidates stirred controversy today when he called California Attorney General Kamala Harris (pictured here) the “best looking” Attorney General, reports The Hollywood Gossip.
Harris who some have suggested could be a future nominee for the US Supreme Court was described by the President as brilliant, dedicated and tough.
“She also happens to be, by far the best-looking attorney general.”
“It’s true, cmon” the President is quoted as saying.
One journalist described the remark as disgraceful.
“Women have a hard time being judged purely on their merits,” wrote
Jonathan Chait of N.Y. Magazine. ” Discussing their appearance in the context of evaluating job performance makes it worse.”
