Press Enterprise: Survey Finds Every Asian American Subgroup Supported Barack Obama

CATEGORIES

voteSurvey results just released by the National Asian American Survey found every Asian American subgroup voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama over Mitt Romney in the Presidential election, reports the Press Enterprise.

That includes even the traditionally conservative Vietnamese American and Filipino American communities. More than 60 percent of the Vietnamese and Filipino voters supported the President. Indian Americans were the biggest supporters with 84 percent of the vote.

The survey, however, does give Republicans reason for optimism.  Almost half of the Asian American and Pacific Islanders do not identify with either party, meaning the Asian American vote can swing for both parties.

The survey was conducted by the National Asian American Survey, the Asian American Justice Center and Asian and Pacific Islander Vote. there are links to other political surveys on Asian Americans in the Press Enterprise.
