Los Angeles Times: @Lakers First NBA Team to Broadcast Games in Korean

Los Angeles Lakers LogoThe sound of the Los Angeles Lakers game being broadcast in Korean can be heard above the din of the patrons at the Palm Tree LA Lounge in Koreatown.

The Los Angeles Times reports the Lakers are the first team in the NBA to broadcast their games in Korean.

“I’m learning who the players really are, not their names only,” says Jay Park, a grocery store clerk in Los Angeles. “It’s more fun. More clear in my language.”

The games can be seen on Time Warner Cable and feature a 5 person Korean language broadcast team.

The five aren’t actually at the games, but watch the action from a video feed at Time Warner Cable Sports Studio.  There’s been enough interest from advertisers that Time Warner plans to do the same with the Dodger games next season.

You can read a lot more about the Korean broadcast team and the interest the games have generated in the Los Angeles Times.
