For the second year in a row, Jeremy Lin’s team will be in the playoffs. Last year the New York Knicks made the playoffs for only the second time in 8 years. This year the Houston Rockets will make the playoffs for just the first time in four years.
But Lin was injured last season and did not play in the post season. So this will be his first playoff appearance ever. Here are the Bleacher Report ‘s Zach Buckley’s early predictions for Jeremy Lin in the playoffs.
Lin gives the Rockets another offensive threat. While not the first option with James Harden having a superstar year, Lin gives opposing defenses something to think about. Any team that ignores Lin will pay for that decision.
Having said that , back up point guard Patrick Beverly has gradually cut into Lin’s playing time. But in the playoffs, bench minutes definitely shorten. What will coach Kevin McHale do with Lin & Beverly.
That could actually work to Lin’s advantage during the playoffs. He is fresher than most his opposing point guards and is surely capable of a double double on any night. Look for Lin to shine in the playoffs.
While Lin is not the first action, statistically Lin has come through in the clutch. He’s made more than 50 percent of his shots in the clutch, much higher than his regular average.
Right now the Rockets are the 7th seed in the Western Conference playoff race and would face either the San Antonio Spurs or Oklahoma City Thunder. But the Rockets are just a half game behind Golden State for the 6th seed and hold the tie breaker between the two teams. That could determine the Rockets chances in the playoffs more than anything else.
If the Rockets don’t get pass the first round, it won’t be because of Lin.Buckley doesn’t really say how he thinks Lin will do during the playoffs, but I will. He’s capable of breaking out and making his mark. Expect Jeremy to shine. Read the Bleacher Report and let AsAmNews know what you think.
