More details are emerging about how an Indian American Brown University student missing for almost a month was a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing, reports India West.
The name of Sunil Tripathi (pictured here) emerged after users of the social media site Reddit incorrectly observed a resemblance between a picture released by the FBI of the suspect to Tripathi. Before long, Tripathi’s was being named as a suspect by countless people on Twitter and Facebook. Many began drawing attention to Tripathi’s religion. “”The alleged suspect for Boston bombings was a Hindu Sunil Tripathi. We urge Western media to now showcase all Hindus as Terrorists.” tweeted one user.
Only after the FBI named the suspects did it become apparent that the sleuths on Reddit were wrong. You can read more in India West.
