A Vietnamese American actress who sued the Internet Movie Database, IMDB, for publishing her birth date and age, has loss her lawsuit, reports Northwest Asian Weekly
Huong Hoang who goes by the stage name of Junie Hoang originally listed herself as younger out of fear her true age could cost her roles in youth-oriented Hollywood.
Hoang sued saying the company breached its own subscribers agreement and privacy policy by entering her true birth date, but IMDB countered it had a first amendment right to publish the truth, especially about a person who lead a public life as an actress.
“I am obviously disappointed by the verdict,” said Hoang in a statement. “The issues in this case should concern anyone who values their privacy and has ever given credit card information to a company like IMDb or Amazon.com.”
