CATEGORIES

Dim SumIf it surprises you that a man has dined in more than 6,200 Chinese restaurants over the years, be prepared to hear this: he also has a way to prove it. He kept track of each meal on an Excel spreadsheet since 1951.

Los Angeles attorney David Chan studied accounting at UCLA. L.A. Times reporter and programmer Anthony Pesce created a time lapse map with Chan’s data showing where he has been over the years.

In the map, you can get a sense of Chinese food trends in Los Angeles, starting from Chinatown, spreading throughout the city and concentrating in San Gabriel Valley.
