The debut film from writer/director Meera Menon has won the first ever Nora Ephron Prize at the 12th annual Tribeca Film Festival, reports Manorama.
Menon’s film “Farah Goes Bang” is about a young volunteer for the John Kerry 2004 Presidential campaign who goes on a quest to lose her virginity. The award is named after the late Nora Ephron who is best known for her films “When Harry Met Sally and “Julia and Julia.”
“To me, this is a film that gives voice to deep emotions and cultural rifts with wry humor. Like the body of Nora’s work, Meera’s film is both immensely clever and compassionate,” said Sally Singer, Vogue’s creative digital director who presented the award.
