Variety reports that filmmaker Justin Lin of Fast & Furious and Better Luck Tomorrow fame has expanded his production company and opened offices in Los Angeles, New York, Beijing and Shanghai.
The Taiwanese American Lin opened Perfect Storm in 2012 as a joint venture with Bruno Wu’s Seven Stars Film Studio.
We’re evolving into a larger entertainment and media company.” said the company’s Troy Craig Poon.
A full development slate of projects is expected to be announced in a few weeks.
“A big part of our DNA is trying to subvert genres or stereotypes and try to flip them on their head a little bit,” says Poon. “That’s what excites us, being realistic about the society we live in.”
Variety devoted several articles this week on Lin, including talking to him about the finishing touches he’s putting on Fast & Furious Six plus looking back at that historic day at Sundance with Roger Ebert. You can find the stories here.
