Asian Journal: Filipino American Women to Be Honored Monday by White House as Champions of Change

White HouseTwo Filiipino Americans will be among the 15 Asian American and Pacific Islander women to be honored as Champions of Change at the White House Monday. reports the Asian Journal.

Myrna Baldonado is a former domestic worker who has dedicated her life to helping household workers gain dignity and respect. She works with the Latino Union of Chicago to improve the working and living conditions of 2.5 million domestic workers in the US.

This award is a milestone in the long journey from invisibility to recognition for domestic workers and an affirmation of the leadership of Asian American women in the US and abroad,” Baldonado said.

Catherine Eusebio manages API Dream Summer as a Social Justice Fellow at Asian American/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy. Her goal is to develop leadership among immigrant youth.

She described her work this way. “She strives to promote change that starts with empowering the most impacted people to lead,’”
