A traveling exhibition featuring the Congressional Gold Medal given to Japanese American veterans for their service during World War II has opened in Los Angeles.
Rafu Shimpo reports the exhibition “American Heroes: World War II Nisei Soldiers and the Congressional Gold Medal” runs through June 9 at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo.
The Congressional Gold Medal was awarded to members of the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team (pictured here courtesy Japanese American Memorial Foundation), and Military Intelligence Service at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. in November 2011.
A special section of the exhibit is devoted to the late Senator Daniel Inouye who loss his arm fighting for the 442nd.
