ABC7 News: 13-Year old Meets Her Bone Marrow Donor

CATEGORIES

bone marrow reunion13-year old Vicky Tran is celebrating her first birthday–her first birthday since receiving a life-saving bone marrow transplant at UC San Francisco hospital

Her gift was getting to meet her bone marrow donor for the first time, reports ABC7 News

“He saved my life and if he hadn’t, I would still be in the hospital and not feeling better,” she said.

“He” happens to be Vincent Pan, well-known in the Asian American community as executive director of the civil rights organization, Chinese for Affirmative Action.

“It’s interesting we’re connected in this way yet on the other hand, were still complete strangers. She’s been through a lot and I think that says a lot about her strength and that is inspiring to me,” bone marrow donor Vincent Pan said.

You can see the reunion and see the significance of becoming a bone marrow donor on ABC7 News.
