A study from Media Matters For America found guests on Cable News Programs are overwhelmingly white and male, with Asian Americans making up just three percent of the guests on the liberal MSNBC and two percent on the conservative Fox.
Of the three big cable news networks, only CNN invited Asian Americans at a rate equal to their population, with 6 percent of the guests on CNN Asian Americans. In fact, CNN invited a greater percentage of Asian Americans than African Americans at just 5 percent.
Overall, the diversity of guests on CNN wasn’t that different than Fox. MSNBC has the greatest percentage of minority guests at 26 percent, with African Americans making up 19 percent of guests on MSNBC.
