Wall Street Journal: Tiger Mom Amy Chua Answers Her Critics

CATEGORIES

Author Amy Chua of “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” fame must feel like a hunted woman.Chua, Amy

Kim Wong Keltner published her new book, “Tiger Babies Strike Back,” just weeks ago. The non-fiction book is considered by some the antithesis of Chua’s book.

Then Su Yeong Kim released her study concluding that Tiger parenting really doesn’t work.

So what does Chua say about all this? She spoke to Jeff Yang of the Wall Street Journal.

“People keep trying to pit me against Kim Wong Keltner, or to ask me to comment on that parenting study, and I keep telling them ‘Look, all I did was write my personal family story. I’m not a social scientist, I’m not a parenting expert. So all this is like asking apples to comment on oranges.’”

Chua says she doesn’t see Keltner’s book that different from her own philosophy. You can read more of Chua’s comments and what she says about Kim’s study in the Wall Street Journal.
