Dallas Morning News: 7 Asian American Pioneers Honored

Dat NguyenFormer NFL player Dat Nguyen (pictured here) led a panel of Asian American pioneers who each distinguished themselves in careers that go against stereotypes of Asian Americans, reports the Dallas Morning News.

There’s nothing wrong with dreaming big,” said the ESPN sportscaster. “But you have to put time and effort in order to gain an edge. It’s all about attitude.”

The  7 participated in a session held in Dallas titled “A Conversation With Asian American Movers and Shakers” and was sponsored by Against The Grain Productions.

Kent Takano is a Vice President of HGTV and DIY Network and described his job as watching television for a living.

Lily Jang is a television journalist in Houston.

Richard Jung is an immigration attorney, advocate and politician.

Karen Oen is dedicated to building community through art.

Ha Mai runs Fur Face Boy, his independent apparel line.

Tanya Pinto runs a non-profit dedicated to children world wide.

All of them put aside fear to follow their passion.
