Mail Online: @MannyPacquiao Joins Fight Against Child Sex Trade

Visayan ForumThe capital of the Philippines is home to a booming sex trade.

Among the prostitutes walking the streets of Manilla are children catering to the sexual needs of tourists

Cecilia Flores-Oeband set up the Visayan Project in 1991 specifically to stop the human trafficking of children.

Her project received a big boost over the last year when it recruited the help of boxing champion and Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao, reports Mail Online

‘During my visit to the Visayan Forum I talked to children as young as 9-years-old who are trafficked for prostitution,’ Pacquiao told Congress.

‘As politicians, we need to be true to our words and actions. We need to send a clear message; that Filipinos are not for sale.’

Philippines’s President Benigno Aquino III recently signed the Anti-Trafficking bill Pacquiao had been championing, into law.

‘A few years from now I might not be in boxing anymore but my fight is to continue to support Cecile and the Visayan Forum to stop human trafficking,’ explains Pacquiao.

CNN International is airing a documentary on the child sex industry. You can watch part two tonight at 9 p.m.
