South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley isn’t backing off from her support of Roan Garcia-Quintana’s, an accused white supremacist, named to be one of Haley’s many co-chairs of her re-election campaign, reports Patch.
Haley’s political director Tim Pearson says there are no plans by the Govenor to ask Garcia-Quinatana to step down.
“There is nothing racial about this Cuban-American’s participation in the political process, nor his support for the first Indian-American Governor and the first African-American U.S. Senator in South Carolina history,” said Pearson. “And, frankly, as long as Vince Sheheen (Democrat running for Governor of South Carolina) continues to employ as one of his top political advisors Phil Bailey, a man who racially slurred Governor Haley, Vince and his allies have nothing to complain about.”
Pearson is referring to Bailey who referred to Haley as the “sikh Jesus.” Also SC Democratic Party chair Dick Harpootlian earlier this month said Sheehan would send “Haley back to wherever the Hell she came from.”

The Democrats fired their own shot today.
In a letter by two top South Carolina Democrats, Rep. Todd Rutherford and Sen. Joel Lourie wrote to Governor Haley “Mr. Quintana is currently the executive director of the anti-immigration organization Americans Have Had Enough. More disturbingly, he has been identified in numerous reports as a current board member and former director of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), which both the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League have labeled as a hate group.
“We strongly request that you remove this individual from the position of leadership you have bestowed upon him, renounce and condemn his views and the views of the organizations he associates with, and apologize for elevating him to a position of note within your re-election campaign.”
