Asian American Vote on the Upswing

voteVoting participation among Asian American is on the upswing, reports APIA Vote.

The latest analysis from the U.S. Census Bureau show more than 3.9 million Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders voted in 2012. That’s an increase of  more than 500,000 voters from the 2008 presidential election.

It’s the third straight presidential election voting participation among AAPI voters has increased.

Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders accounted for 2.9  percent of all people who cast votes in 2012. That’s up from 2.6 in 2008, 2.2 percent in 2004 and 1.8 percent in 2000.

in 15 states in which APIA vote targeted, voting participation among Asian American voters was an astounding 84 percent or more.
