David Lee, professor of economics and public affairs, has been named provost of Princeton, according to New American Media.
Lee becomes the first Asian American ever elevated to the post. He replaces Christopher L. Eisgruber who moves on to be president of Princeton. Past provosts at Princeton have gone on to become presidents of Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania.
The Korean American will oversee both academics and the budget at Princeton.
