Afro: Minority Majority coming to U.S. Faster than Expected

United States mapThe latest Census projections predict the United States will have a minority majority by 2043, reports the Afro.

Previous estimates were that this would happen by 2050.

Children of color under 5 right now make up 49.9 percent of the population.

The overall white population is now at an all time low of 63 percent and for the first time the white population actually decreased due to deaths.

“It’s the younger, rapidly growing minority population that will be driving economic and demographic growth this century,” William H. Frey, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, a Washington-based policy research group, told Bloomberg.

Asian Americans remain the fastest growing ethnic group in the country.
