A film on the life of 97-year old Asian American civil rights activist Grace Lee Boggs debut last night at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
A second showing of “American Revolutionary: The Evolution of Grace Lee Boggs” is scheduled for tonight before it heads to the American Film Institutes Docs Film Festival June 21.
Loop 21 reports the film by director Grace Lee focuses on Bogg’s transformation during the African American civil rights movement from the 60’s and how her influence quickly grew beyond her hometown of Detroit.
Soon to be 98, Boggs continues to be active in the civil rights movement today. Despite her advancing age, she speaks with a strong voice and much conviction about challenging the status quo and the role of institutionalized agencies.
