The Republican party has named Shalli Kumar of Chicago to lead its outreach efforts to voters in the Indian American community, reports Times of India.
Sixty-eight percent of Indian Americans voted for Barack Obama in 2012, according to the National Asian American Survey. That’s more than any other Asian American ethnic group.
Republicans hope to reverse that trend and have formed the Indian American Executive Council of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
The committee will also assist in identifying potential candidates.
