Seattle Times: FBI Removes Bus Ads After Objections Over Racial Stereotyping

CATEGORIES

Faces of Global Terrorism AdThe FBI has agreed to remove 43 bus ads following protests the ads depicting wanted terrorism suspects stereotyped Muslims, reports the Seattle Times.

A FBI spokesman described the decision as “a result of our continued engagement with the community and the feedback we are getting,” reports the  Seattle Times.

As AsAmNews reported last week, Rep Jim McDermott (D-Seattle) wrote a protest letter to the FBI, saying the ads would “only serve to exacerbate the disturbing trend of hate crimes against Middle Eastern, South Asian and Muslim-Americans.”

McDermott’s concern was that all the suspects depicted were Muslim when not all terrorism suspects are Muslim.
