One hundred activists from the Sikh American community attended a briefing on civil rights at the White House, according to a blog by the Sikh Coalition published in Sikh 24.
They heard about federal efforts to fight school bullying, airport profiling and employment discrimination. Representatives from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commissiion, Transportation Security Administration and the US Department of Justice were on hand to give a report and to answer questions.
“The genuine excitement and feeling of momentum among the attendees was inspiring,” the Sikh Coalition said in a statement. “The assembled Sikhs were grateful to have shared their ideas with top-level officials and participated in a historic event.”
