A Midtown nightclub in New York has been fined $20,000 on charges it discriminated against Non-Korean customers, reports the Gothamist.
“When I realized that I wasn’t getting into Circle because of my race I was shocked,” Patrick Thomas, an African-American complainant in the Attorney General’s investigation, said. “My experience left me feeling insulted and degraded.”
Non-Koreans were allegedly denied entry if they didn’t make a reservation, if they didn’t order bottle service, or didn’t meet the dress code, according to the complaint. Those same standards apparently weren’t enforced on Korean American patrons.
