LA Times: Several Asian Americans Invited to Become Voting Members for Academy Awards

Oh, SandraThe Los Angeles  Times reports that Sandra Oh, Lucy Liu and director Christine Choy of “Who Killed Vincent Chin” fame are among a diverse group of people invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

This year the Academy is inviting a lot more people to join after realizing its membership is less diverse than moviegoers.

According to a study by the Los Angeles  Times, 77 percent of the Academy is men, 94 percent is Caucasian.
