Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA), the only Indian American currently in Congress and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, the first Hindu American in Congress (D-HI) are urging the U.S. Postal Service to issue a stamp commemorating Diwali, the Festival of Lights.
The Times of India reports they are being joined by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY),
“The fight to have the Postal Service issue a Diwali commemorative stamp can be decided next week,” Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney said.
“For those who care about a Diwali stamp, it’s imperative that they write the Citizens Advisory Stamp Commission now,” Malony said.
The commission is set to meet July 18th.
