A reporter with the Sing Tao Daily covering the aftermath of the Asiana plane crash was escorted out of San Francisco General Hospital while the mainstream media was allowed to stay, reports New American Media.
Sing Tao Daily is one of the nation’s largest Chinese language papers.
According to a story in the paper, a photographer from ABC 7/KGO, the local ABC station in San Francisco, was standing right alongside the Sing Tao reporter. A San Francisco Sheriff deputy approached only the Sing Tao reporter, asked for identification and then told the Sing Tao reporter he had to leave.
The reporter said the deputy made a comment that the hospital ranks the media by size and reach.
Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi later said the incident was not in line with department policy and he would look into it further. No comment from San Francisco General, which is a city-run public facility.
