Tempo: #Filipino Artists Unite Against Chinese Military Aggression

CATEGORIES

Filipinos UniteFilipino artists from both the United States and Philippines have come together to produce a song to symbolize their unity against what they consider to be China’s economic and military aggression, reports Tempo.

They’re producing a song titled “Change the World” and are calling themselves Filipino Unite.

Filipino Unite was launched in response to China’s announcement in 2011 that it would install an oil rig in Philippine territory.

The group says this is only the beginning.

Other (Filipino) songwriters said that they are going to follow suit at a later date so we have artists committed to do multiple songs for this campaign,” Jourdan Sebastian said.

“We need to spread peace, love, unity and respect,” Roxee B said. ‘It’s not about violence, it’s not about negativity, and we’re calling out all the Filipinos all over the world to unite, to spread the news and to rise up. Kailangan marinig ang boses natin, that’s what we need to do.”
