Despite announcing Sunday night it would remove Asian Girlz from both its website and You Tube channel, the controversial song remains available as an Mp3 on Day Above Ground’s website.
“We have no plans to change anything else regarding Asian Girlz at this time, said Jim Hudson, the group’s spokesperson told AsAmNews. “As has been previously stated, we stand behind our song 100%”
It appears the group has only removed the video itself. When asked if Day Above Ground would eliminate the song from its playlist, Hudson declined to respond.
Just yesterday, the group posted this message on its You Tube Channel
“Asian Girlz will be coming down in 5 hours & will disappear from our channel & website forever. ”
Apparently there was a footnote to that statement that somehow got left out.
Meanwhile, the fight has moved on to iTunes as a campaign is underway to pressure Apple to take down the song.
A group of 23 Asian Americans have set up a Facebook page declaring this “I’m Not Your Asian Fetish National Call Day -to Demand iTunes to Take Down Asian Girlz.”
Supporters are being urged to call Apple at 408-996-1010.
